Coventry Lower precinct

In 2002 BLE completed the installation of a CCTV System for Coventry Lower Precinct. Originally this was Eurpoe’s first traffic-free shopping street, which was built in the 1950’s but it had a £38 million transformation which included a new CCTV surveillance system. The site has been classified as a significant piece of post war ‘Festival of Britain’ architecture, and is typical in style of the redevelopment of Coventry City Centre. The Lower Precinct Shopping Centre also won the BCSC Refurbishment Award for 2003.

The System Design 
The CCTV System comprise of Mark Mercer Dome Cameras and a variety of fixed and vandal resistant cameras, with cameras in the lifts. These cameras are all connected to a Baxall Pyramid Matrix in the control room. BLE also have a fully comprehensive contract in place with the managing agent of the Precinct.

The designer of the system, Brein Ryder, BLE's old Sales and Marketing Manager says that he is pleased to be able to give Coventry Lower Precinct a CCTV surveillance system that protects the shoppers and employees within the centre and at the same time is suitable for the distinct architectural surroundings of the centre.

Paul Chalmers of Donaldson Property Management says "The BLE designed CCTV System at the Lower Precinct is fundamental for the safety of our customers and tenants, creating an environment we feel safe to shop and work in".

Sheffield Wednesday Football Club

In 2003 SWFC decided to survey, repair and maintain the CCTV System at the training ground and the stadium itself. To do this they used BLE who carried out this work. In 2003 and 2004 BLE then provided major improvements, which included the upgrading of the control room, various cameras and a microwave link between the stadium.

The System Design
The system now benefits from a total of 48 CCTV Cameras, microwave link, an upgraded stadium control and a Digital Recording System. 
 
Nick Timm, says that as a SWFC life long supporter, it gives him great pleasure to offer his skills and that of the BLE team to his favourite football club, and that BLE’s system is a ‘premiership’ CCTV system for a premiership club and ground.
